Component Speaker Guru's

okay heres the deal. im looking to "upgrade" my factory system but i dont want to add the big bass that a subwoofer would give me and i dont want to power any amps or things of that nature. all im really looking for is more bass/treble/mids than what is allready there right now. kind of like the factory BOSE systems in newer model vehicles. will component sets do it? also, alot of people only sell sets of 2 speakers and 2 tweeters is this okay or should i go with two component sets for both front/rear? or if im on the wrong track then please help me. ive tried looking on ebay and places for factory bose systems out of newer model vehicles and most of them dont come with the amps.

Alot of the upgrade systems have a small sub.

I would suggest using a set of 6.5" Components up front like these:

eDi 6500s Components

And for the rear I'd put in a dual 2ohm VC set of these:

Eu-700 MidLFE Driver

You'll need to make baffles for the front and rear but this is about as good as you'll get with no amps. If you decide to go amped later I would suggest this:

NINe.4 Amplifier

All your stuff would match nicely.

Use polk SR6500 components up front if you have the money for them. They were rated number 1 for SQ by carsetero magaizine or some crap, along with some Morel component set and a Seas component set.

It really depends on how much you want to spend.

You'll never get the full potential out of good components without an amplifier. All the factory upgraded systems (Chevy/Bose, Ford/JBL, Chrysler/Infinity) use an amplifier to get more power and cleaner sound. Even a small amplifier will make a world of difference and it's easy to install one somewhere where it won't be sticking out or taking up storage space if that's what you're worried about.

thanks guys. i think i may go for components up front and in the rear. or i may stick it out until i find a complete BOSE system like in newer vehicles. the reason i dont want to add an amp or big subs is because its going into my truck which is a regular cab and there just isnt enough space for subs. i got rid of my car along time ago. but keep the ideas coming please.

chances are the bose will sound like junk, they talor those sytems to the car specifically and a change in envirement is going to kill how they sound, not to mentiont they really dont sound that great, most componet sets were designed to have some power to them running thm off the radio isnt using them to their full potential. i'd get a quality componet set. get a small 4 channel amp mount it under your seats and then maybe look into a shallow 8" sub that you could mount under the other seat. this way younot losing any space at all but will have a quality system that sounds good and plays all the frequencies.
