Has anyone on here put a starter kill switch on their car? I am wanting to put a hidden switch wired to my starter so when i kill it, you cant hot wire the car, plus its an insurance discount. If im not mistaken, i would just wire to the power going to the starter correct?
Thanks in advance for any help

Yes but I would imagine starter sucks up a lot of amps so unless you like having big ugly industrial looking switches in your cabin (and heawy guage wire going to it) I would tell you to use a relay and a normal switch.
Alternetavly why not just put a fuel pump cut of switch? it should be easier, just add a switch in series with the fuel pump fuse.
Yeah, that is a better idea, thanks man

well, you can use a smaller switch, but switch a relay, that in turn will swicth the starter solenoid

yea a kid in my auto body class got a Honda Civic Hatchback from some people in New York and i took a look at it and right inside the door under the dash is this massive steel wire loom and this big freakin black box, looks like a light switch box for in a wall. he said its the kill switch for the starter but they didnt have the key to it anymore. Ugliest thing i have ever seen.

Your car already has an immobilizer system built-in, and while it's not perfect, it makes it hard enough to steal your car that a kill switch becomes redundant.
I have a friend who wired up a smoke detector to a kill switch so his brother couldn't smoke and drive

wow and one more thing that IM sure was said
PASSLOCK if we didnt have It i would of stayed away from a start button.

If passlock is so good, than why do so many cars still get stolen with it?

if a thief wants a car bad enough they WILL get it, you can bypass the passlock with a simple resistor.
what makes you think put putting a switch in the car will be any safer... all they have to do is flip a switch....
easy way to do a little something, pull the fuse for the fuel pump or starter of something when you park, granted a thief could just pull out the fuse for the horn or somethign and put it in its place but I duoght they will sit there ard try to figure out whats wrong with it... its simple, easy, and free to just pull a fuse
good point

Yeah, they can flip a switch if i put one in there, but they also have to search for it, im not going to put it out in the open, it will be hidden, and only me and my wife will know where it is at.

If you have the starter relay recall done, then just put a switch on the starter relay (under the hood, usually mounted on the front frame rail). It's now a low-current circuit after the recall is done.
I havent received anything about a starter relay recall
