Hi, I've installed a car alarm/remote start in my 2001 cavalier z24 and the alarm system has a window roll-up module. I need to know where to wire the output of the alarm for window roll-up??? I want both windows to roll-up when I armed the alarm and if possible, is there a way to wire the electric sunroof with this window roll-up module? Thanks!
There should be a wire in your alarm that has a trigger when the alarm is armed - usually a negative output. As for the sunroof, i'm not sure if it's a negative trigger or a positive or how they open and close, there's probably a way with a relay.

Generally speaking, its usually an orange wire- Negative output when armed.
However, Im sure this wire can definately vary from alarm to alarm. Be sure to check your particular alarm booklet.
The window roll up modules will require you to cut all the window UP wires and run them through the module... The module will get a power, ground & an activation wire.
You won't be able to wire up your sunroof to the same module as your windows- usually you would buy a seperate sunroof module. Unless you bought a module that controls 4 windows in 1 direction, you could probably use one of the 2 open channels for your sunroof... But, the sunroof might be a little different from the windows in the strength it takes to close it. You might find the sunroof will stop closing maybe midway through if you use the window module to control it...
The window modules sense the resistance of the motor, so it knows when the window is shut- and when to turn off.. If theres enough force on a window to keep it from rolling up- it will stop moving, because the module thinks the window is all the way up... A sunroof might be a little harder to close, so it might not work right.
In short, just buy another module made for the sunroof... Lemme know if you need the window/sunroof wire colors for your vehicle.
you will need one module to roll up the windows, and a seperate one for the sunroof. for the windows, you would splice into the factory harness to attach the modue. the sunroof is a pain to do. I had a shop do mine, I'd suggest you do the same unless your very smart...
the sunroof is not important but where can I find that windows roll-up module in a 2001 cavalier z24 ? Will I need a relay for the install?
question is... is there a roll down module? that would be awsome, like hit unlock once for drivers door, twice for both doors, 3 times fo put windows down
The two modules I know of are the DEI 529T and the DEI 530T. You can always find them on ebay relatively inexpensive. The 529T will control two windows in one direction (both up or both down) or 1 window in two directions(up/down), the 530T will control two windows in two directions, both up and both down. The actual functionality will depend on what your alarm actually lets you program...For the install, there are some grounds, some 12V constants, couple wires coming from the alarm(for arm and disarm), and there's two wires coming off the alarm PER side of the window motor. (you splice into the factory harness). For example. On the drivers side door, you would cut the two wires going to the motor. Two wires from the module would attach on the motor side of the wire, and two on the non-motor side of the wires. No relays are needed, as thats what the window module is, a complex set of relays. Its awesome, Its kind of impressive too, when you can have everything open, walk away, and your windows/sunroof close for you, pimpin' aint easy folks...
Ok but I already have a window roll-up module included in the car alarm system. I just want to know where I can find the good wires for windows in my car? I suppose that my car has already a window module and i'm wondering where it is in my 2001 cavalier z24. The wires for the windows will probably be near this factory window module.
Will I need a relay for this installation?
Thanks!
