yeah they are an amazing all around sub, im switching my whole set up, everything but my amps is ending up to be alpine, you realy cant go wrong for the quality, sound, and price. just gotta figure out if im doing 2 sealed 10s or 2 sealed 12s

Id love to do a full alpine setup and with Vlink id like to have alpine amps and headunit so I can adjust m y amp settings up front.. and have a digital voltage and temp displays.. but I can get 2 refurb Orion 2500Ds for the same price as 2 M1005s .. so idk
The Type Rs like ported a lot better than sealed.. just a warning I have heard bad things from some installers about results with sealed.. but I hope it works out fine for you.. what amps do you run ?

haha im an installer and reseller thanks tho, Type R's do fine sealed, maybe you head a poorly sized box or something? cuz i never heard of type rs sounding bad sealed. as for ALL alpine set up, my set up right now is a single ported 12 inch JL off a rockford amp, stock speakers, Alpine head unit, when i redo it this winter its going to be 2 10 or 12 inch Type Rs sealed, 6.5 inch TypeR comps up front, Alpine head unit, 2 RF amps

Are you going to be putting the 6.5s in kicks? Cause we put 5.25s in my friend's 2k1 Sunfire GT and 3/4" MDF wasn't thick enough for the magnet to clear the window. We ended up slicing off the rubber gasket from the 4x6 baffles and gluing it to the backside of the MDF baffel. We then had to cut the plast grille out becuase the speark has so much excursion it was hitting...... It looks totaly ghetto style right now because he hasn't covered the opening yet, but it all sounds bad ass.

i got my own ideas on how to do them in the doors, if all else fails i will go with Kicks if i can find a nice used pair cheap, i just lately have been trying NOT to use my dead pedal as much as possible to see how well i can get along without it, lots of interstate driving means im not on the clutch too much witch means i need that dead pedal, but im trying to live without it. but i might be able to make them fit in the doors. we will see

Thats the model I was wanting to run.. and its got a 2.8" Mounting Depth.. is this gonna fit ( fairly easily ) into the door... I currently have Eclipse 6.5" in the door.. but I dont know about the depth.. ??
If not.. are kicks easy to install and look good.. like the ones on Crutchfeild ?

THIS 150 PAGE THREAD and Im sure you do great work.. and I dont know a lot some.. but not a lot.. I had my W7 in a ported box that wasnt tuned right and it turned me off of ports.. but I was assured I could make 2 12" Type Rs sound as good as sealed while and getting loud wirth SQ.. so I sold the sub and amp for a laptop and am starting over w/ Alpine, but the overall consenus is that seald isnt very good and ported makes them shine.. I didnt get to that til about the 30th page lol.. but im sure sealed does awesome for it too... check out the vids on [URL=www.thecaraudiobox.com]THE CAR AUDIO BOX [/URL] .. this is the guy doing my box and he knows his way around a Type R.. and he is pretty much making me go ported lol

well it will depend on what kind of music you listen to mostly and the sound u want too. i mean if u want big deeper longer lasting boomy bass, from like rap music or maybe SPL comps, your gunna want ported hands down, no way around that. but if you listen to metal, hardcore, rock, or even fast beat techno, you might want the kick you in the chest punch that a properly matched sealed box will give, im not saying one is better, or worse. a ported box is by far more efficient than sealed, but they make different sounds, and its just about the kind of sound your going for. also, if you listen to faster punchier music (techno, metal, hardcore, etc.) you might consider 10s rather than 12s, they got less surface to move and have a little quicker response time, but again, its all personal preference and the sound your going for

no 15s because im a metalhead.. but I dont want 10s because not enough cone area for the loud boomy bass at shows or hang outs or whatever when I listen to rap.. so I think 12s should be alright from what I understand.. I may look into sealed.. but Ill prolly leave it up to TCAB to make a box for what I want and i just hope its good.. never heard any complaints..

when am i doing my install? depends on how many hours i work here at dell, how much product i sell, how many installs i do, and how well the band does and how busy i am with the band, plan on doing it sometime this winter, but theres a few things i gotta buy for the car before my new Alpine stuff. the box is built, and im working on my false floor and wall and whatnot, just need to save money for the new equip. i might get a discount, but its sure as hell not free lol

Def. check on Ebay for the alpine stuff or IKESOUND.com or Etronics.. that will save a lot.. dont know where you were gonna get but most offer same warrenty as alpine on equipt and have excellent feedback ( ebay )..
I hope you get it soon.. keep me posted I love all the cool alpine setups so id like to check it out.. should be ordering the subs tomorrow... since I dont have subs at the moment and put them in @!#$ty boxes with 300 to both and then buy the TCAB box.. then the amps and then the component speakers and piece it up that way..

haha, im pretty sure my discount is better than buying from those places. and even IF ebay might be cheaper, i like warranties, i like dealilng with my guy, and i like the peace of mind knowing everything i get is brand new and i will get it in a timely manner. appreciate the help though if that was even directed twords me in the first place lol.
