i was wondering who made their own sub boxes and what tools you use more specifically the holes. Also, would a reciprocating saw give me a decent straight cut or is it not worth trying? thanks
A table saw would cut the would perfect. also look into buying/using someones "router" for the speacker holes. You might also want to get some 90 degree wood clamps and some larger 2 maybe 3 foot clamps. Home depot would have most all this.

Yeh, for the two I've built I just used a circular/table saw, and a jigsaw for the holes for the terminals and the subs. You could also just drill a hole the size of the guage of wire you use and run the wire straight into the box. It'd save you from having to cut the smaller hole, just put a little sealant around the wiring to make sure it's still airtight.
I've built all but one sub box using a skillsaw (I'm probably on 15+ now). Using a table saw is definitely the best way to go if you have access to one. For the holes I just used a jigsaw. I drilled a 1/2" hole (big enough to get the jigsaw blade in) and cut the hole out. It's pretty easy. A router works really well as well. I've only used a sawzall for cutting metal; it's a bit cumbersome IMO in comparison to a jigsaw.
One of the most time-saving pieces of equipment you can use is a cordless drill (with 2 batteries) for drilling pilot holes and screwing in screws. Words can't describe how much it sucks to screw dozens of screws in by hand.
Good luck!

interesting you should say that, i've actually trained for programming and operating Biesse Excel Routers for work. The huge ones for mass production. It's alot of fun. I know this thread makes me sound like a complete noob to wood working, but i was just hoping i'd get some inside tips on enclosure construction as i've never done it before
