I want to mount two six by nine speakers in the rear of the car on both sides of the backseat. What i'm wondering is if the speakers will fit and have enough room. I know this is a vague discription but i don't know how else to say it.
What else I'm wondering is if i could get them in and the holes cut right... what would I wire them to. Would I just wire them to the six by nines in the rear deck or would that take away from the power? this could come out looking good but i want everything to work too.

I posted in the other thread that you can get some convetable rear panels that have speakers in that local from the facotry and make it look like a factory install, much cleaner if you ask me, you could then cover the speaker holes with fabric anbd nobody woudl ever know there were speakers there.

the bigger question is why would you want to do that?
Why WOULDN'T he want to do it?
Adding more speakers never hurts in my opinion...
I've been thinking of doing this mod as well.
HotRodV6 - Can you provide more info on getting these with the holes already in them? No sure what you meant but sounds very cool.
Thanks!
the rear speakers are only meant for the rear passengers. They will not help your SQ in anyway. they may actually hurt it.
Here's a stupid question for ya:
What exactly is SQ?
Hey, I'm learning!

Well in the 95-00 converable moels there was no rear deck to mount the speakers, so they were mounted in the side panels, niot sure what size the factory used there, but ive seen them there, and if you could find the panel there you go, factory looking install.
As far as adding more speakers, its going to add to the overall sound volume in the car. 6 speakers are always better than 4, hell look at the factotory Monsoon system its a 7 speaker setup, tweeters in the door panels, mids and highs in the doors and rear deck and a sub in the trunk or the subs can be in the doors lke my 2001 Blazer X was with the factory BOSE system.
If i can find some vert panels ill be adding some 5 1/4 or 6.5 speakers and tweeters up front in the future. And a sub in the trunk.

Yeah I don't swing with the "4 Speakers Only" jive
My Cav has a 12-speaker system, including small tweeters above your head, in front and behind, 4 speakers in my kick panels and 2 more on the rear deck.
When you crank up my system, you sit in the middle of a surround sound experience that sounds great - guitars play from one direction, a keyboard from another, drums behind you...
I plan to add at least 2 subs and 4-6 more mid/tweets
Maybe I have no idea what I'm doing (I don't even know what an SQ is) BUT I think it sounds great, so does anyone who has experienced it.
sq= sound quality. If you think having more speakers sounds better, more power to you! More speakers doesn't always mean better. More speakers will mean louder. If you can hear your rear speakers over your front speakers, it will hurt your sound imaging. I thinkg that my front speakers alone sound better than having all four firing. Just my take on it.
Yeah, I'm not trying to argue with you, it's definitely a tight balance to maintain. And most of you guys have actual knowledge about this kind of thing while I'm just playing around to see what I like.
I've adjusted my system settings so that they are all pretty much equal and all hit you at the same time and same volume. I can see that if someone just threw 50 speakers in their car with no planning it would just create a loud, chaotic mess.
Plus, keep in mind that I have not installed ANY of this myself. I tell the guys at the store what I want and let them make the suggestions and put the thing together...
ha, i'm not sure if i have lots of knowledge about this stuff, i've just been reading around here and some other places and regurgitating what i've read.
