On Remote Car Starter/Car Alarm

Hey Guys
I am just wondering if a remote car starter with car alarm work with a 5sp setup?

You can get them to work, I'm not sure how but I know it can be done, my friend just did it to his TC. the other thing is if you do it you have to be extremely careful not to leave it in gear, otherwise your car can lunge forward or even take off.

yea i knew a kid who did it and he left it in gear in the winter and his car was slowly moving across the parking lot

Yes you can, any decent alarm shop can do it.

most standard transmission remote starters make you activate it before you leave the car, instead of just turning off the ignition, you have to press a button the remote, with the car out of gear, the clutch out and the handbrake on. Then remove your key (car will keep running) and then get out, shut the door and the hit the button again on the remote, then it will shut the car off and the system will know that the car is safe to start without moving.

so i can go out and by any car alarm with remote starter and put it into my 5sp setup?

you just have to put a clutch bypass switch on the clutch sensor wire I have it on mine but as stated before can be very dangerous if you ever leave the car in gear it will take off on you and its a good idea to flip the switch if you ever take it in to the shop or if someone other than you is going to be driving it cause someone could get hurt badly if not careful
