hope this ain't a repost, but anyways, has anyone seen this sub from mtx? it's called the jackhammer, it's 22 inches, 396 lbs, and has a peak power of 12,000 watts. it's amazing!

That jackhammer retails at somewhere on the order of $6500US. For that kind of money you could build a much louder system composed of multiple SPL monsters (MTs, 9515s, Juggernauts, Treos etc), as well as enough power to run them.
It's just too expensive. It's more for marketing than competition.

the funniest part about the pimp my ride segment is they talked about the db meter they installed in the car and then turned the system on and were like shaking saying it was so incredibly loud but when the camera panned down to the db meter it was only reading 100 db. i laughed when i saw that.
i think its more just marketing and a gimic speaker more then anything, kinda like soundstream every year would make this big amp that cost 50,000$ and came with its' own alternater.
