door switch for remote start

I've got an AutoGuard remote start/car alarm/remote keyless entry do-dad thing that I'm putting in.

The wiring schematic that came with it shows two wires (blue and blue/black) going to a door pin switch. One is + the other is -.

The door pin switch that came with the unti, however, only has one wire. the other 'side' of the switch goes to ground via its mouting hole.

Would it be safe to assume that the "door pin switch +" wire from the brain goes to the wire of the switch, and the "door pin switch -" from the brain simply goes to ground (again, the other side of the switch is ground).

BTW, the wire on the door switch is purple in color.

That switch you're looking at is the hood pin switch, it gets mounted in the engine bay. The two door pin switch wires are there so that the alarm will work with a car that has negative or positive door pin switches without needing to use a relay.

I was reading in the instruction manual for the alarm and it says that after you deactivate the alarm, if no door is open within 25 seconds, the alarm re-arms itself.

So I need some sort of door switch, so that dont happen.

Anyone know if this should be a NO switch or NC?

Don't put the - wire for your alarm to ground. It's set up for positive and negative triggers. Your door triggers are a negative output, so you'd tap into it with the negative trigger on your alarm.

DOORPIN
The DOORPIN WIRE usually has a signal that indicates the status of the vehicles doors. It may also be used as a trigger to turn on the vehicle’s Domelight. Some vehicles use other wires to establish the door status. DOORPIN wires are usually positive or negative depending on the manufacturer and model. Some show negative and others show positive when the door is open. Some vehicles have a different wire for each door. GM shows negative.

SEE NOTES***
***LT.GREEN/BLACK cover the driver's door and LT.BLUE covers all other doors. These wires are found at the BCM above the driver's kickpanel on the violet connector.
