Is this wired right?

So over the last few days ive put in LEDS in my car, well today I put in a switch. Before the LEds come on once I started my car. Here is a diagram of how I did it. Is this correct?? If not can some one tell me the correct way.

Looks right to me.

Im guessing that the fuse is a constant supply?

Yes, I have it connected to my HVAC fuse for right now, I plan on giving it its own fuse.

i thought leds were supposed to be wired parallel not in series?

leds should be wired in parallel, but for small numbers can be run in series.

no resistor?

good catch. I didn't notice that the first time through...

but according to the op, sounds like there may be one already as the LED's were already coming on.

I figured since there wasn't any poping or sizzeling, that they are 12V LED's lol

Alright I figure I should tell you that it is a fire hazard to have a wire going into the fuse box if you just have the wire wrapped around and tucked in with the fuse. Couple ideas for you would be to grab the constant 12volt wire coming off of your lighter socket. Atleast then its not a fire hazard. By the way judging by your diagram you have the led's wired in series, I'd check the install instructions again to see whether or not they should be ran in series or parallel just to be on the safe side.

It's not a fire hazard. If you do it PROPERLY it isn't. Use an add-a-circuit or add-a-fuse off of the glovebox to do it properly.

If at all possible you should always wire in parallel and not in series in everything.

Wiring in series leaves a single fault point....Christmas tree lights anyone (the older ones at least).

Also your going to experience a voltage drop at each point in the series, no matter how much current you put thru it.

Wire them in parallel and be done with it

make the top power and the bottom ground, or vice versa.

So you only need 2 points; one for power, and one for ground.

Thanks for the info guys. I do have resistors wire in I just did not draw them in on the diagram.

I only have 4 LED's in a series. I put four in a series becasue I copied the way Lunar accent's wired theirs.

Should I change this or will this be ok?

You should be fine as long as all connections are nice and tight. Hopefully you're not putting too much current through them, but without spec of the LED's, I can't tell you.
