How do i find out which wires are constant 12v power? There is a red one up and under the dash which i was told was a 12v power source, but i don't know if it is working. How can i tell?

If you are talking about the one in the main power harness. as long as its a big red wire thats a constant. easy way to check it is with a test light which im guessing you dont have, but can pic up at autozone for like 5-6 bucks.
for the test light, do u have to make a slit in the wire so it touches the strands? or can u just hold it against it?
most test lights have a sharp point on the end that you just poke throught the shielding.
