Ok I have an interesting one and hopefully one of you dealer guys or someone with alldata or anyone who has experience doing this. I purchased an overhead console out of a 98+ Chevy Blazer off ebay. The console fits the headliner pretty well. The main reason I got this is that I wanted the homelink garage door opener. But when I got it I found out that it has the trip computer that gives you average fuel economy, instant fuel economy, range, compass and temp sensor(with a sensor under the hood). If possible I would like to get this to work. I have done some research on this and found out what the pin outs are on the computer for the console. I have not found anything on here that would tell me the info I need to know. What I am looking for is the wires on my 05 Cav that do the same things.
Pin 1 - goes to a switched 12V
I know where to get this
Pin 2 - Ground
Easy
Pin 3 - VSS
This one I have know idea about, I dont know what VSS means
Pin 4 - Temp Sensor
I have to purchase this yet but it is easy
Pin 5 - Constant 12V
Got it
Pin 6 - Dimmer.
Hook up to parking lights to get 12V when lights are on
Pin 7 - Not used
Pin 8 - Constant 12V
Same as pin 5
Pin 9 - Serial Data Bus
On the forum where I found the pin outs they hooked this to the purple wire on the Data Link connector. Pin 2 not sure if it is the same wire on the Cav or not. this is the main one I need to know about.
Ok pin 3 is just to let the Temp sensor know if the vehicle is stopped or moving, I am sure it has something to do with speed. I really dont need to hook this up(i think). Again I am just going on what I have been able to find out online. I am hopeing this will work but if not then I will just use the spot that the computer mounts to do something else.
Thanks
the vss is the vehicle speed sensor. its in your tranny and tells the car how fast you are going. databus may be the class 2 wiring depending on when the blazers switched over wiring. that can be found on the radio and other locations
Does anybody know which wire it is on the OBD2 port or anyother place that I can get it for sure. I am going to hook it up and test it out before I do the final install.
There is a purple wire on the service port, Class 2 serial data bus.
I don't think the J-body PCM transmits the data that this piece requires. Simply hooking it up to that purple wire may not work.
