Installed OEM radio; now car wont start
Wednesday, November 02, 2005 11:55 AM
My aftermarket CD player took a crap in my car. So i decided to reinstall my factory tape deck/radio. After installing it i noticed my door chimes were not working and when i went to start my car nothing happened. Nothing electrical is working in the car. Before I call the dealership, I was wandering if anyone ever heard of this before or know of anything I can do. I read about the theftlock locking the radio and figured I will need to get that unlocked but wasnt expecting this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

All I can say is start checking fuses...

Did you cut the original wires on the car? Or did you use a wiring harness?

Anyway, i agree with lenko. What happens if you take out the stock radio?

Sounds like a dead battery to me.

....or maybe the ground or positive wire either got loose or disconnected.

we used a wiring harness so there was no cutting of wires. I tried reinstalling the cd player i took out but had the same result. I'll have to check my fuses and see if any of them blew. Is there a main fuse? It seems unlikely since i have no power whatsoever in my car. I'll check my battery and connections too. Its probably just something stupid...(I hope)

If there is no power at all, start with the battery and work you way o the fuse block.

Try putting jumper cables on the car. If you then have power it will be the battery or main fuse.
