Hey guys. I have a 1200w amp in my car. It is 2 channel bridgable, 2 ohm stable. I have 2 1000 watt 6 ohm subs (500w RMS) with Dual Voice Coils. But it's just not loud enough for me, so I want to add my other speakers to it (2x 200w max 8 ohms Single Voice Coil) I'm trying to find a wiring configuration for it to get the lowest impedance possible without going under 2 ohms, and I used the calculator on the12volt.com to see what I could get. If I wired in parallel, I can get the speakers the speakers to 2.4 ohms, but I can only use 1 of the DVC subs.
Can someone tell me how to or draw a wiring diagram on how to wire them. I'm thinking a combination of series and parallel wiring will be able to get better results.
Sub1 = 6 Ohm DVC
Sub2 = 6 Ohm DVC
Sub3 = 8 Ohm SVC
Sub4 = 8 Ohm SVC
Amp = 2 Ohm Stable (600w x2 @ 2 Ohms)
are you briding the amp or using it in stereo?
i'm not sure, but i wouldnt hook up 2 different brands/sizes/ect if your going bridged i dont think the setup your thinking of is going to sound very good, but the best i can think of is to take the 2 6 ohm DVC and hook em up series-parallel to give you a final load of 3 ohms on one channel and take the other two 8 ohm speakers and hook em up parallel to the other channel. if they're 200watts max, i assume they're probably like 50-100 watts RMS, so it should be enough to move em.
either way, i have a feeling its not worth the trouble. why not sell all the speakers and amps and buy a more powerful amp with a better and/or larger set of subs?
lol well, I tried my little diagram I drew up for 3 ohms. I wired the 6 ohm DVC's in series and wired the 8 ohm SVC's in parallel TO the DVC's while bridged. It works really well, they pound the f*** outta my car. The liscense plate rattles again even with the crap I stuffed behind it to keep it from rattling in the first place. It sounds so much better than before, the bass actually sounds cleaner too. I just have to readjust the gain so the 8 ohm SVC's dont blow out. (the 8 ohm's are 8" ported in a plastic enclosure. Came with my home stereo I got for christmas)
Other than that, they sound really good

I'm happy. BTW this is my last post

Good call brother, you learn well

A 4 ohm load on 1 channel, and a 3 ohm load on the other. It's going to sound funny in this situation.

That's scary. Just...scary. Two of the 10 commandments of car audio is "thou shall not run mis-matched woofers off of the same amplifier", and "thou shall not raid thy sister's room for her boombox speakers for thy car stereo" Either run the 2 subs in parallel, one sub off of each channel, or get a monoblock that's 1 ohm stable.

I'll be takin the 8 ohm subs out simply because they're small and keep fallin over. I hope I'll be able to grab some bigger, better speakers, and an amp. No more "ghetto-izing" once I get a stereo to suit my tastes.
oh yeah, I redid the wiring yesterday though to save my 8ohm subs. Now the SVC's are running in series and the DVC's are running in parallel. Now more power goes to the real car subs so I can crank it for longer periods of time.
