Sub Box Just an Inch too Tall

Does it affect or hurt the trunk to raise the tensor bar one slot up? If I do then the box will slide right in no problems. What are the affects of moving the bar?

Doesn't that affect how much "force" it uses to open, so moving it will make it fly up, or just open and not fly up...?

I am unsure on how they are setup on a j-body though.

thats basically what it is. your trunk will either have more tention and raise up allot quicker. or it will have less tention and may not stay raise up by itself.

How does one get the bars outta the slots?? I've tried to take them out of the slots with the trunk open, and with the trunk closed, but they don't want to budge at all

Just pull really hard, getting the bars out is the easiest it's putting them up in the top slot thats harder (top slot makes it raise quicker).

Grab it with something strong... like a set of Vice-Grips.

If only you knew Part of the overhaul plans I'm thinking of may require me to remove those slots altogether. One guy that built a Wicked One for his Cavalier had to bend the slots towards the sides of the car to get the box to fit. I'm thinking I'll come up w/ a new mounting system instead, esp with my amp rack design. Right now the bars are in the way of where the rack will be I probably won't worry too much about the trunk until I get done with at least the dash, since I need to buy a welder before I can start working on the rear deck & trunk.
