remote start, remote turn off, radio stays on.
Monday, October 24, 2005 9:24 AM
I got a Python 881XP car alarm/keyless entry/remote start system installed in my car.

I also have an aftermarket headunit with the chime box thing.

When I remotely start my car, then use the remote to turn it off, my radio stays on.

is there a way around this?

Thanks for any info!

Im sure it has a lot to do with the fact that with newer cars the radio is on untill you open the door (after you turn off the car)

i believe that is the cause also, because the door is never opened if the car is remotely started and stopped.

Is there a timer or anything I can put on this thing so it turns off after a couple minutes if the car is turned off? or is there any kind of timer built in already?

There's a timer already built in. After the car is turned off the radio will shut off 10 or 15 minutes later.

...but if it's really pissing you off you can program one of the aux buttons to send a neg signal to the door switch which will turn off the radio. It's a long shot and not worth it in my opinion but....possible.

or you could get rid of the chime box and wiring....Thats whats doing it..........just run an ACC wire to the aftermarket unit and dont forget to turn off your headlights......

If there is no timer, it will shut off an hour or so later. The battery has a built-in "drain" feature preventing you from annoying your neighbors for too long.

not quite, The car itself does Via using internal timers in the BCM and so forth, but the battery has no such thing.............

Lol nice. But yeah, it sounds like it's the adaptor you have installed. The deck wouldn't happen to be a Jenson would it? We've had some problems at work with Jensons not wanting to turn off for some reason.

As long as it's just a deck and not an amp or something that's gonna drain the battery, I wouldn't worry about it. If it has a removable faceplate you could always take that off and it'll help deter theft aswell

it's a pioneer 7700 headunit, and an infinity 4 channel amp running 4 infinity speakers inside...

Just wire a switch to the constance wire i belive thats the one and when you get out at night just flip it off so when you remote start it your radio doesn't turn on untill you flip it on
