I'm looking for a new car and found a 2003 Sunfire at a dealer, the problem I have is that the car doesn't have power locks. If I get the car I intend to have an alarm system installed, but without the power door locks the key fob won't unlock my doors.
So my question is, has anyone here ever installed power locks on their car? I found a couple of sites that sell what they call a door lock coversion
http://www.slickcar.com/productdetails.asp?ProductID=2271 but i'm not sure if an aftermarket alarm would interface with that correctly.
If anyone has any information about where I could get the necessary parts or about how much this would cost, I'd appreciate the help.
Thanks,
Tyler
Talk to one of our friendly j-body vendors, like jlcaudio, a+, modified motorsports, etc... and see what they can get you. Of course you can add aftermarket actuators to any alarm. I'm actually using door solenoids off of mine

i bought that same kit that your looking at from slickcar.com and it works great. if i remember correctly it is made compatible for an alarm system, and it works fine with mine. however this weekend im installing a new alarms system because the first one i bought is crap, so we will see if the door locks are still compatible.
I say go for it. that door lock system is easy to install and works very well.
Thanks for your quick responses, I will talk to the installers tomorrow and see what they say. Sounds like it shouldn't be much of an issue though.
I just received my Commando Power Door Lock system today. I only waited a week for delivery, that's pretty fast!
Ex: Where did you hook your 12volt constant wire too? The directions mentioned the battery. I was thinking of using the same fuse I tapped into for my HU. The windshield wiper fuse. Any suggestions?
Thanks,

yea, go to the ignition harness. Its to the upper left of the brake, Red thick wire. Test it to be sure...
Thanks for the suggestion illdwes. I'm hesitant to tap into the ignition harness though. I guess at some point I'll need to when I install my alarm/remote start. Is there another place that I can tap into besides???
Thanks for your reply
Peace Out!
