subs in spare tire well?

hey....im looking for an alternative to a big dual 12" box in my trunk. and the seemingly easy way of doing it would be to put them in the spare tire well...but what do i do if i have to put a bunch of things back there. i dont want to risk damaging the subs, or lose the sound if something is over them. Anyone have any suggestions? thanx

I suggest you don't get a flat!

If you don't drive the car alot, I say go for it, otherwise you're looking for trouble.

option a) get somekind of service plan that covers tire chnages
otion b) mount the sub, so that it points downward, and then you can place whatever you want on top, but mind yo, it WILL shake, and rattle when the stff will be ontop.

built a box that'll hold the sub in the back rear corner indent of the trunk...you know the place right? directly behind the tail lights where there's like the little "indent." thats what i've always wanted to do, i'm just not creative enough.

actually...... thats MY plan... in fact i was searching online this morning if NE1 makes em, no luck, so i went down to my local stereo shop, who's car is featured in the last road and track, and figured this out....

first off, for the space that is there, and to be able to clear the hinge, you would have to use a "small" box sub, maybe something like 1.7 cu/ft... for a 12" [i.e. Phonix Gold, MB Quart]

for mine since i want them the same color as the car, i got a quote for $500 each side !!!!

ok, so i was lookin at those indents, and figured it would take a lot. id prob have to do it in fiberglass, but ive never worked with fiberglass before. but still it wouldnt be a big box.

When you build in those indents, it might be a good idea to remove the carpeting (since you're just covering it up anyway) and use the metal of the car to start with a blueprint for the box.

and always... ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS Measure 3 times and cut once..... I have a pair of lightning audios (yeah, i know, garbage, but they thump nice for the money) that i'm gonna be installing into the corners of the trunk until i get some money up to upgrade.

Freakin morons.... When will they learn. Hold On Not Done Accelerating

doing a fiberglass enclosure for the sides isn't that hard.

you can use multiple flat pieces of mdf....and glass them together. then stick your ring on and wrap it with fleece..go from there normal procedure.

500 per side...i'd do it for 500 total probably, lol
