I did a quick search but was unable to find anything
I was wondering what you people perfer the XM satelitte radio or the Sirius version? What has the better content? Better sound? and so on.
All opions are welcomed, good or bad lol
Thanks
is sports an issue? they both offer different contnet when it comes to sports.
At my work Customer's buy about 10to1 Sirius compared to XM
Both of there sites will have channel listings
Yeah, the sports packages are the main difference. Sirius has the better one for football, I can't remember for other sports. I have XM just because it hooks directly into my Panasonic HU. I can still get coverage of most all the games, but Sirius has coverage from like both home and away teams.

www.xmradio.com 3 day trial. I think Sirius has the same thing, but I've never looked into it.
I've had Xm for a year, and I love it. I have the SkyFi2 with home kit in my dauthers' room, XM online on the PC, and an XM direct tuner for the Alpine head unit for the xB.
Sig removed because some people cry too much.

Sirius has better football coverage, and I believe XM has better baseball coverage. Other than that I'm not to sure of the differences. I have had XM for a year and a half and I love it. I plan on switching from the Roady to the hard wired units in both of my cars and putting the Roady only in my work truck. Now I swap it between all three vehicles depending on which one I'm in for an extended period of time. I have also heard, not sure if its true or not, that XM has a clearer signal than sirius. Like I said I dont know if that is true or not I have never had sirius.

I work for XM.
XM has Baseball, NHL, Nascar (until 2007), PGA Tour, and Indy racing. Also has more channels(150+), Opie and Anthony (hoo hoo, tell em Fred!), smaller Antennas, smaller units, the portable one, and better ground repeater coverage.
Sirius has "Hoo Hoo" (howard stern) come 2006, NFL, NHL (until 2007), Richard Simmons, and some others... 130+ channels, more expensive hardware, some shady Multi-Year plans.

We sell a lot of Sirius at RS. Also, I have it on my cell phone, and also have it on my Dish Network at home... its got a lot of good stations that I listen to.. not too sure about XM.. but I know a lot of people bring in XM and say they arent happy and ask if we have Sirius.. plus idk if XM has it.. but there the replay where its like DVR for radio, and also Sirius has more sports and its getting a lot better.. they are working on Nascar and theres a ton of NFL to check out... personal favorite is Sirius 20 ( Octane ) Hard Rock.. that and the comedy stations...

Thanks for the replies everyone, I can't really see myself using it much for sports, but I think I have pretty much made my mind up after reading your posts.
Again thanks alot
look at some message boards for xm and sirius to get some opinions before buying. I have xm because I think the quality of the music stations is much better than sirius, better sound quality and better content.
Here's a link to an xm board discussion of xm vs sirius quality
xm vs sirius
i sold the sirius boombox an some other crap to some lady the other day at radio shack lol, it seems pretty cool, not sure on the differences, but the boom box thing is cool an RS has a good deal on the home/car thing right now...its like 75 bux then theres rebates an stuff
XM just got a deal with DirecTv, so anybody who has it can get XM starting November 1st.
And is it just me, or does Sirius' hardware look like ass?
I'm an XM dealer! XM all the way!!!!
Hmmm, get all the channels Sirius has to offer for $12.95 a month or pay varying fees for certian packages with XM.

Ummm... XM is now flat rate as well.
$12.95/mo gets you all the channels (aside from playboy I think), as well as Opie and Anthony, as well as XMOnline. Been that way since.... April, I think it was.
Yeah that sounds right to me, I prefer XM's equipment, they have a boombox as well. I say go XM, but your best bet is to look into it and see what they both offer and figure out exactly what you want out of the service.

I've had xm for a few years now...I love xm way better....I also have dish network which has sum free sirius channels, not to bad but I'd stick with xm. And your right....sirius's equipment does look like ass. I have the roady2 w/the clear case. Looks pretty cool.
Hey corsica dude:
Is nascar defently switching over in 07 or are they just lookin at options??

I have XM, mainly because they were promoting the MyFi thing where I work and giving them out for free with 6 months of service. The MyFi is great, got it hooked up in my car, also came with a home kit and portable antenna with headphone jack. It's all 12.95 for the subscription including online, you just gotta pay for playboy if you want it. (what's the point in listening to playboy?). My only annoyance about XM compared to Sirius is they don't have the NFL at all. Sirius also has more celebrity shows I believe, but I have no idea who. I like XM's hardware much better than what Sirius offers, though. Not to mention if your car came with XM, you could get additional stuff added on cheaper.
i have XM, and love it,
so far one of my buddies, has sirius, and noticed they play more "radio" stuff than XM does... (mostly the reason why io got XM)

wait for it... wait for it... NOW GO!! ---> '02 LS Sport <---

Corsica Dude - Don't they look similar? They are disigned almost the same. So where does one look like ass?
You also wrote "XM has MORE CHANNELS!, (150+)"
Let's see here Travel/Weather channels for example
XM has - 21 DIFFERENT channels for 21 DIFFERENT cities, that takes you down to (130+)
Sirius has 10 channels dedicated to Travel/weather, 2 Cities on each, so 20 cities! Only one less, and LESS THEN HALF THE CHANNELS WASTED on that, and more more for entertainment MUSIC and Sports.
I have a Back Issue of Mobile Electronics magazine, they gave 6 people one year of free sat radio. 3 had XM, and 3 had Sirius for 6 months, then they SWITCHED!
They ALL AGREED SAT RADIO is a MUST HAVE after you experience it!
5 out of 6 Choose Sirius over XM, for both quality of reception and selection! I'll go dig up the mag, SCAN IT AND POST THE RESULTS for the XM employess that are downtalking the competition!
We sell both XM and Sirius, and EVERY EMPLOYEE that has Sat radio in there own car at my work has Sirius, NOT XM. I don't have it, I have a mp3/dvd player/CD changer/ and a Music Keg that is filled on the regular.
sorry it was a CAR SOUND & PERFORMANCE MAGAZINE, and i gotta find it. I remember after it was published, SIRIUS used the results in there campaign ads.
i worked for caddie deasler and i love listening to the XM my cuousin has sirius and when we go to school it has bad connectin and we where in wide open spaces..idunno though i dont need eithe rof them normal radio is fine for me.

My dad has Xm radio and loves it. We recently took a road trip down to Mexico. When we called Xm radio they could not guarantee that we would have a good signal outside the U.S. but where we went it's about a 28 hour drive into Mexico and we got a clear signal the whole way there.
SkyFi2. the 30 minute replay feature is AWESOME.
I got mine on a Friends and Family kinda deal last year that was posted on NUMEROUS websites. Basically, you ordered using a code from Best Buy or Circuit City and saved buncho bucks. I got the SkyFi2 ($100 at the time), Car Kit ($50) and 3 months service ($30 then) for $87 shipped. I bought a Home kit on ebay for like $22 and I was set.
we have sirius at my work and i like it, good stations, there sports stations are awesome. Once they have nascar i will be sold.
