well ive had a couple problems and ive been reading some posts
my amp keeps blowing and getting hot protect light comes on it wont go off.. blah blah i send it back does it again
i have a rockford fosgate 4ga. power wire to the amp i forgot the size of the fuse and i lost the one thats in there i was wondering what size i should replace it with to where it mite blow instead of the amp? because obviouslyy something is wrong i have 2 fuses on the amp and there always fine and yet the amp protect light comes on and wont go off. so what size fuse should i replace.. this is the round glass fuses also
If your amp fuses are blowing or the amp is going into protection then there is a problem with the wiring. How to you have to speakers run to the amp? If the impedence is too low it will cause the amp to overheat.
-Chris
perhaps you should post WHAT AMP you have and what you're RUNNING off of it....

what amp is it? you may be giving it a load that is too low for it to handle. thus going into protection as well as running hot.
what size fuse are you running? i'd say at least a 50 amp i hope.

the amp would be fine if the load was small. it sounds like you are giving the amp to much of a load, because thats the only way it would go into protection mode.

i didn't say small..i said LOW.
1 ohm is lower then 4 ohms.

ok so what size fuse do i need in the inline thing the glass fuse what size i need to buy another one
What size wire are you using?
-Chris
If you don't tell us how much wattage the amp is pushing, we can't tell you how many amps it's going to need... therefore we can't tell you what kind of fuse you need.
How difficult is it to provide us with some details?
i have 4 ga.. an amp kit already comes with a fuse i just dont know the size i dont know why it matters but its a 1600watt amp
Up to a 125 amp fuse will be fine.
-Chris
up to? which is better wut if i g over 125
4 gauge wire will handle up to 125 amps before it burns. The fuse on the power wire is there to protect the wire from burning. So, if you're amp only draws 80 amps, and you put an 80 amp fuse, you're fine, but you can have up to a 125 amp fuse on that wire. If you put a larger fuse on the wire, and it shorts, the wire wil catch on fire and burn your car down before that fuse blows.
-Chris
I've got an 80 amp fuse for an 800 watt amp and a 640 watt amp... you should be ok with 100 watt if you can find one. You might also look into the circuit breakers too.

running stereo? bridged? mono?
are u blowing the fuses in the amp or the fuse in the power wire?
have u had the amp checked out at all?
has it been like this since u put it in, or just recently started doing this?
when you go to best buy and buy a amp kit by RF.. you get a fuse with the wire and it works great why would any of this other @!#$ matter
well i'll end this post with this responce since im not premium right now.
you have a problem. we are trying to fix the problem. why are you arguing? you ask a question giving us little to no information and you get annoyed that we are trying to get all the proper information to try and help you. in audio to find a solution you have to troubleshoot and narrow down all the posibilities until you only have one possibility left, and that generally is whats wrong. once u find out whats wrong we can fix the problem. if we dont know all the information there are hundreds of things that could be wrong with it. dont get pissed off because we are trying to get a good picture of yoru setup in order to help you out. if you dont want to provide all the information end this post and just take it to your local audio store and pay someone to fix the problem. if you want us to help and try and figure out the problem from behind our keyboards and save yourelf some money, stop arguiing with us and just answer the questions we ask.

The thing is those are generic wiring kits that may not be suitable for your amp. Given information and models about your gear we can determine a better or proper size fuse to run.
If you just don't care to find the actual causing problem, throw in as big of fuse as you can get.
ok well i go on bestbuy and the same amp kit includes a 50amp. fuse with it?? so should i get anothe 50 or what and why do i only get like 10 posts a month mid as well be a pay site
Ok, look at the fuse(s) on the amp and see what they total to. Get a fuse that size or just take my advice from earlier and get a 125 amp fuse. You get a limited number of posts because you're a basic member. Want more? Go premium.

NICE ATTITUDE!!, and something tells me your amp is not 1600WATTS! It is more than likely a 1Channel 600watt amp. and it is more than likely 600 watts at 2ohms. You probably have Dual 4 ohm subs, and they are probably wired down to 1ohm, therefore putting your amp into protection.
Here is how I would demonstrate my problem, (IF I HAD ONE) in your case must be the installer.
EXAMPLE:
Hey guys, I have a JL AUDIO 1000/1 MONO amp, the power rating is 1000Watts RMS from 1.5-4ohm
I have 4 SINLGE 3ohm Voice Coil subwoofers. My amp is wired to 3ohms and the amp is going into protection, what could the problem be?
I am using 12AWG power wire.
DING DING DING!!! WE HAVE A WINNER, after everyone reads that they would say my power cable is TOO SMALL , get it? You give details, people give answers.

If it wasn't in the wiring you would not blow fuses, Get it?
Have you checked your ground to make sure it was a good connection?
