no all dual voice coil audiobahn subs are like that, theyre weird they have 2positive on each side and 2 negative a total of 4 and 4,tell him to go on audiobahn.com or if he bought it new there should be a manual that shows you how to wire it at 2 or 8 ohms
well if they dont finger it out 2day i'll have em bring it with me to the meet
thanks guys
awesome ill be able to figure it out and bring along some speaker wire

my crappy $30 jensen subs have 4 terminals (2 pos, 2 neg), its a SVC sub, but like sndsgood said, some subs just do that so you're not tryin to wire everything through a single terminal... BTW the jensens are a horrible, yet valid example.
It may, however be quad voice coil, I'd say tell him to look for any links between two of the positive terminals and two of the negative terminals on each side. If there's a link (either lead wires, or terminals connected by a metal plate), then yes, its exactly what sndsgood said.
Of course, some subs hide the lead wires and stuff inside the sub. so... yeah, the manual should explain everything relevant.
