Hey guys, just wondering if I would be able to get a 4 cubic ft. box to fit into the trunk of a cav.
I am wanting to have 2 12" Type Rs ported ( about 30ish Hz ) and I want the box to be roughly 4 cubes... Can this be done without out much custom work or should I just look into getting 1 Type X...
Thanks

just have it go farther back then it is wide
well.. I dont know if its net or gross.. the guy whose making it said that he would want to make it about 4 cubes to have it done right.. hes shooting for 153 at the head with my setup.. which he has done before... ( im thinking more like 148-9 ) he has a ton of vids on Realm Of Excursion.. going to chicago to get all this stuff done.. so I trust him.. he says theres room.. I just dont know how it would look and where I would put all the amps and all that stuff

4 cubes net with 2-12s should be no problem in your car (as long as it's designed to go in through the back seat).
I might suggest getting the dude in chicago to build the box with interchangeable ports. Tuning your type-rs to 30hz is pretty low (low tuning is more for SQ, and is usually not SPL-friendly), but if you tune it higher (~40-45Hz) with a swappable port you'll hit quite a bit higher at comps. Just a thought, and best of luck trying to break 150dB!
I wanted it tuned low because I dont really do sound comps.. I just street bump and I do 50/50 Rap / Metal.. so im have trouble finding the best route.. but like I said.. this guy has my confidence.. esp. after seeing these vids, and talking to him the last couple of days.. does anyone know what the outer dimensions of a box that size would be ? or at least close. b/c I want to see if ill still be able to have run in the trunk to mount all the amps and an at least make it look good... it is a show car, so I cant have it look bad

it could be any dimension...just depends. he'll have to just design it to fit accordingly.

Cool.. thanks a lot guys..
But Ported Low ... would this be good w/ some metallica or anthrax or anything.. Im sure Subs are easy to get rap to sound good... but thats not all I listen to.. I love me some metal

.. anyone think that a ported box could be capable of this ? If a box can do it, im sure this guys will.. but I wanted sealed.. but he says ported can be almost just a punchy and quick while being louder.. any input ?

The largest box you will get in your trunk is 33w x 17h x 28d . But to get it in there you have to cut the sheet metal that is covered by the trim pieces. thats roughly 9 cubes to work with depending on the tuning freq of the box you build you will have no problem fitting it in there. And as for you other question. I'm the same way with music. I love metal. I listen to stuff like Lamb Of God, Ill nino, dicast, shadows fall... ect. Tune to about 30 hz and you should be pretty happy with it.
awesome.. thats pretty much what I needed.. I hope I can get the metal to sound good.. I know its all gonna be in box and install.. for the most part, so I hope all goes well
