well i just got some projector headlights. i only care about the HID in the actual projector not the high beam.. does anyone know wut i can do? but new kit? which number do i need 9005 9006 ect?? JUST for the low beam.. also can i get it off a junk car? or should i just buy new i will be looking on ebay so suggestions to what i should be lookin for would be great! thanx
First of all, what kind of projectors did you get? (which car did it come off from)
There are 2 types of projectors:
Halogen projectors which uses bulbs 9004, 9005, 9006, 9007, H4, H7 etc.
HID projectors which you can get from BMW, Benz, Lexus, Infinity, Audi, 350z, S2000, TSX, TL etc. These projectors are meant for HIDs and use either D2S or D1S bulbs (most use D2S bulbs).

It would depend on the type of projector you have. All the kits that you can get off a junk car are OEM HID systems which come from the cars that I mentioned above and they only use D2S bulbs. And these bulbs will not work with halogen projectors.

i dunno thats why im asking someone had told me to make my high beam fit in the projector would this work??

melt the bulbs. No they won't. Also the bulbs will not melt the projectors...

Your probably got the generic APC-type projectors right?? Or Matrix even?? If so, they use 9005 bulbs. You can buy a HID 9005 kit off E-Bay for pretty cheap

You don't
have to use HID with the projectors, but it's a very good idea. You may try Silverstar bulbs also to see how well they work. I have Matrix projectors and Silverstar bulbs sitting at home, but I have a 2000 so I need wiring conversion and bumper before I can run the projectors to see how well the SS bulbs work w/ projectors.

wide view hid kit, haha sounds like a good way to sell it. Link to the kit you got. and 9006 is your low beam not 9005.

9006?? I seem to remember seeing 9005 for both somewhere on here... ?? I can't return my Silverstar bulbs either... Was planning on running strobes only in the hi-beams but than the SS bulbs go to waste.

Kit like that would be hella nice on my bike hahaha. I can't remember if it's H4 or H7 tho... I'll have to check that out. Maybe next summer I'll have a HID'd up crotch rocket
I just remembered why I thought all the bulbs were 9005. When I bought my projectors (off a guy from here) he had 4x 9005 bulbs in the housings. The projectors/bulbs were never hooked up tho, so I dunno what was going on there. Because I need to convert my 00 harness anyway, I bought the 9005 harness, so do you think I really need the 9006 bulbs for my projectors? Or would 9005 be alright?
if u had projectors and werent such a smartass youd know when u buy projectors they convery BOTH to 9005..
ya thats basically the kit i got except i got 8000k so its gonna be really blue.. i should hook them up wednesday or so
