I know alittle to nothing about how audio works. Like whats the best amp of subs, etc.
So here is what i'm looking at.

SWS-1242D
12" Type-S Series Subwoofer (4ohm+4ohm)
What amp would be the best?

MRV-F545

MRV-F450
5/4/3 Channel Power Amplifier
Thanks in advance
Go to barns and noble or some other book store and get the loud speaker cookbook.
what are the specs on those amps? Best bet is to lo0k n see if alpine makes a amp thats 1ohm stable that puts out around 600rms@1ohm if they do run the subs parallel and run the amp at 1 channel but MAKE SURE ITS 1 OHM STABLE or if they make an amp that puts out 600rms@2ohms just run the subs in series and youll be fine,Type S are nice clean subs,if you cant find an alpine amp in your price range that puts out 600-700rms that alpine makes lo0k into a mtx class D amp or even an audiobahn high current amp,the MTX 8100D would be excellent for those ran @ 2ohms along w/ the audiobahn a1300hct and you can run that amp @ 1ohm......go0d luck
With 2 dual-4 ohm subs he can wire it up for 1, 4 or 16 ohms (not 2 ohms). His best bet is to find a monoblock amp that puts out 500-600wrms at 1or 4 ohms.
sry 4ohms,just had a brain fart
Say whoa?
Okay....this ohms bull@!#$ is confusing me...
Anyone wanna break it down for me?
lo0k up a thread on ohms law....when running your subs off a mono block amp you have two alternatives....parallel and series....parallel you connect the possitive of each terminal on the sub to the positive of the other sub and same with the negative....in your case u have a dual 4ohm so you would run jumper wires on 1 sub from pos. to pos. and neg. to neg and the same on the other, then run one postive lead from one pos. terminal and a negative lead from the neg terminal so your only going to have one connection(1 positive 1 negative) going to the amp....This is going to give you a 1 ohm load....series is similar but you jump the wire and go neg to positive and positive to neg.....you do that to both subs from each terminal and then when you run the jumper wire from one sub to another you do the same idea, pos to neg and neg to positive....this will give you a 4 ohm load....Best thing to do is go on google or something and look for pictures that shows you a "how to" if you have never bridged or ho0ked up subs before, not doing it correctly can damage your subs or blow your amp...its not that difficult of an idea to do.....another thing you could do is get two small mono block amps for each sub which i know alpine makes....something around 300rms@2ohms is what youd need per sub if thats what you wanted to do.....go0d luck
Well, I have had subs that I've hooked up before. I'd admit...it was alittle ghetto. I just wanna do this install right this time. And I wanna get the correct amp.
What kind of amp do I need that I can have each sub going to their own terminal? So lets say I have a 1000w amp. And I want 500w going to each sub...how could I do that?
if you want memphis email me @ sickfire14@yahoo.com...i have two alpine type x's which r dual 4's i can snap some pics n show you how to ho0k them up and show u which amps to go with
