ever since i have put in my new altenator (105amp) my car has been vibrating pretty hard. i put in racing mounts but it's not going to make my car vibrate that much. i ran the scan tool on my car and there are no codes. tested the altenator and battery and they are fine but it seems to be my altenator. every time i turn on something electric it vibrates harder. my car idles lower. it idles at 500-600 rpm. it only vibrates when it's idling so when i'm sitting i put it in neutral so i wont vibrate hard (4 spd auto) when i turn on my lights it vibrates harder, when i turn on my fog lights it vibrates even harder. when i turn on my ac it vibrates sooooooo hard that you can make a martini inside your self. my auto electronics teacher suggested that the amperage is too high so it's vibrating. he said he's seen it before. if it's not going to vibrate when i'm driving/ hitting the accelorator which means that it's charging the altenator and making it turn, therefore generating more power wouldnt you think it's the altenator. it's a bosch. my car has to tried to die on me. one night when it was raining it accomplished that. it's an automatic mind you. the other option i'm thinkin is that the pcm is corrodid my car was from the south where there was alot of water and salt on the roads. that night it died it was raining pretty good. it's not my fuel pump i checked the pressure on that it's normal.
i neeeeedddd hhheeeelllpppppp!!!!!! any suggestions of what i can do. i'm tired of my car vibrating all the time and trying to die. it's embarrasing that my dip stick rattles loudly making it sound like my car is a peice of crap. i've had my fuel system cleaned. new spark plug wires and spark plugs. most of all this didnt happen until i put in my new altenator. maybe it's defective? suggestions?

I'd check the engine mounts before I looked at the alternator, you did change them and it would affect engine vibration. Maybe you screwed something up.
Alternators don't shake because of high currents, at least enough to shake your car.
bro my alternator is two and a half times the size of yours. (260 amp) and is the size of a basketball damn near and I dont have that problem at all. If its from the south then you can forget about the salt on the car. Unless its from an oceanic area then you may have to worry about it. But from what I know salt is used in the north to melt snow.
its your mounts. stiff mounts make the car vibrate like hell, specially with AC on. take the insert out, and put your stock dogbone in, you'll see.

but it vibrates more when electircal stuff comes on. lights, fog lights etc...
but on sunday i decided i was going to cut a hole in my air box and after i did all that and cleaned my engine and my car it stopped vibrating and started idling normal. i dont know if my air box was put on all the way. when i was taking it off it was really easy to get off barely any unscrewing and when i put it back on it more like snapped into place and screwed down all the way. it then vibrated later when i took it off again. i think it was my air box. i'm an idiot. my ex put racing mounts on his cavalier and his car didnt vibrate that hard. i'm talkin bout extreme vibration. not little.
