LEDs in speakers - any good brands?
Friday, September 16, 2005 11:27 AM
I want to get some speakers that have blue LEDs installed in them, but all I have seen so far are no-name brands like at Wal-Mart and Pep Boys.

Do any GOOD speakers come with this option that you know of?

Thanks!

Steve

Useless lights have got to be the biggest waste of money, after 3-foot high wings on FWD cars.

JVC's "Warren G Signature Series" have blue LED's in them. I seen them at a local shop last year, not really my style but people do like them..

Alot of practise. I repetedly used junked speakers do get down a good method. I make a pin hole size hole in the cone, and use a very small LED, like those in cellphones. I put the resistor on the other side of the cone, hide the wiring, and plug and play.

I thought there was some type of infinity subs that had a white cone that lit up blue when the bass hit, THINK it was infinity but I wouldn't be surprised if I'm completely making it up

Try these speakers from Blaupunkt:

Transparent Series 6.5" 2-way Component speaker

Transparent Series 6x9" 3-way Coaxial speakers

Transparent Series 12" subwoofers

Then back light them, I think it would look great in the doors, dunno if you'll see anything in the rear deck.

Yeah Phoenix Gold had a nice idea for illuminated PG logos on the tantrum series cone, but their stuff is junk anymore. Their amps need serviced 4 of 5, and 1 of 2 woofers has bad tinsel leads burning up and taking out voice coils. This past weekend was the last straw, a set of woofers went down on a customer and everything PG is on ebay now.

LMR: what kind of adhesive are you using to bond the LEDs to the cone? Most stuff that I am thinking of will break loose when some serious bass starts pounding... Thx.
