on a 95-99 cavalier with a 5speed tranny, is it possible to over ride the clutch switch, so you dont have to have the clutch in to start the car?
well otherwise ur gonna stall arent you???
not if you park in neutral

(i forgot about that)
in that case shouldnt u be able to short the wires on clutcvh switch?
why do you want to do uit anyway?
well on my recent trip to the car wreckers i happened to come across a car alarm/starter which is fairly new and worth over $400 but its for an automatic..... so i figure if i can over right the clutch switch, i can hook up my own "neutral" switch on the shifter to hook up to the "neutral senor switch" on the alarm
cool
just make sure ur in neutal...that could cause a problem
good luck
if u do that and forget to leave the car in nn then it will start and drive untill it hits something then stall. it will start and run.
there are bypass modules out there for this reason. if u can install an alarm, then this module is an addon. contact dei alarms and i think they may still offer this module.
to bypass the clutch you reach behind the pedal and you will feel two wires take two t-taps and two spades and you tap each wire and then you take another piece of wire and connect the spades to it and you put it into the t-taps and BOOB you have a clutch bypass

Huh? If i read this right you just basicly connect the two wires together? Tap or bridge them together. Sorry just trying to understand better what your saying.
yeah connecting them will bypass the nuetral safety switch. Becare you are bypassign a safety on the car, it will now start in gear.
thx for all the replies. To those conerned about starting the car in gear, i plan to hook up the clutch safety switch to the shifter it self so only when the car is in neutral or the clutch is pressed in will the car start
i'll try and get pics when i make the switch for those interested
Just wrap the clutch pedal switch in tape or a zip-tie, so it's pressed in. Easier and faster than tapping wires.
Reach up to the top of the clutch pedal.. you'll be able to feel it.

you can have it so you dont have to push the clutch in to start, mine is a 2000 cav, i swaped an auto for a 5 speed and never hooked the switch up, like everyone else said just make sure its not in gear.
