Why does my indash dim:(
Tuesday, September 06, 2005 12:59 PM
hey well i got my indash in and i didnt even have my subs connected but if the bass is even past like 0 on the screen for the speakers the screen will dim badly depending on how high the subs are.. im running 2 12's right now so i just set the bass to -2/-4 so it doesnt dim AS muchbut it bugs me is this because of too small of ground or too small of 12v? or both??

you might try running a bigger power and ground wire to your actual HU, it's worth a shot. Not to mention, a small cap (not an auto type one, but just from like partsexpress.com) might actually be able to help in this situation too.

ok so the actual 12V should be big enough? ill re ground it somewhere else because i cant even listen to my stereo without turning it up half way and the screen damn near goes on and off.. the ground is securly connected i must just need to run thickier gauge?? i dont see how it would help tho considering the ground from the actual headunit wont be any bigger?? same with 12v

if you have an "autotek" amp like your cardomain profile says then i'd be willing to bet thats your problem.

Back when i had a power acoustiks LT-920 and had an auxillary screen everytime i turned up my subs the screen would get all kinds of lines and stuff in it...then when i got my Directed 1100D the problem completely went away

what indash are you using anyway?

no i dont have anything that my profil says its soo old.. but that autotek was 750.00 and it never made my crap dim it was a good amp until it got stolen.. i said i dont even have an amp HOOKED UP AT ALL.. and the screen dims alot.. it plays the music perfectly but dims alot jensen vm9510 is the indash.. oh well i just use the cross over from the amp to the subs when i get an amp back
