big 3 is wiring between chassis, battery, and alternator. 4 gauge is recommended by most people apparently.
no idea on how much alt is.
so your lights dim without an amp at all?
what did you wire your three 12's to again???

My first guess - since you're not using an amp, is that whatever you have the subs hooked up to isn't made for the load that you're hooking it up to (e.g., your load is too small), and it's causing a current draw that's pretty large (even though it may not sound like it with the subs). There's no way the lights should be dimming w/o an amp otherwise. Unless you have some serious alternator/battery problems right now.
my car has no problems is just that when they would hit the lights would dim....i guess because they were hooked upto the same wires that run to my 6x9's :p

did you wire them in paralel? (aka, ran more than one speaker on a single channel)
If you did, you lowered the indepenance of the speakers.
Example, two 4 ohlm speakers in paralel would be 2 ohlm. The lower the indepenance the higher the wattage and higher the power draw. The problem is that you head unit can't handle the higher wattage and will burn out your op amps.
btw, this is how they get those high wattage rattings for amps.
