if what Patrick Carter is thinking same as myself, being somewhat different. if i can either splice or connect the headlight wires to the interior dome light, so when i press the lock/unlock on my keyless remote both headlights and interior dome would light up. i know i'd prolly need something like a 18 gauge extension to use(read it from another forum). anybody know if this is even possible? i kno there was another thread having something similiar but the pics that were uploaded on the site was kinda confusing to read and make out. the idea i have sounds simple, but if its possible. so now just reviewing what i said: use wire extension to connect from dome interior to headlight wires so when doors auto lock/unlock both light up and dim afterwards(like the dome light does after a period of time). thanks in advance

why don't you use your parking light wire as a signal to let you know what your keyless entry system is doing. it is in your Drivers kick panel, pull it off you will see a big wire loom going from the drivers kick to the rear of the car, peel that tape off and find a brown wire and test it with a Digital Volt Meter. there might be more than one brown wire so make sure you test it, it should test no voltage when the parking lights are off and 12 volts when you parking lights are on. then take your parking light wire from the brain of the keyless entry system ,which is usually the white wire and is usually fused already, and hook it up to the parking light wire.there you go now when ever you press lock or unlock your parking lights will flash a certain number of times depending on what brand of keyless it is. usually lock is one flash and unlock is two flashes. let us know how it goes.

the idea, Dustin Klumb, didnt work at all. i tried the brown and white wires, tested the volts, didnt work. the wires connected to the interior dome light was orange, as were the headlights.

if you have a 1999 Cavalier you wiring schematic is:

12 Volts Constant- Red- in the ignition harness - "+"
Starter- Yellow - in the ignition harness- "+"
Ignition- pink - Ignition harness- "+"
Power Lock- light blue- either kick panel - "+"
Power Unlock- white- either kick panel - "+"
Parking Lights- Brown- harness to rear, Drivers kick-"+"
*Door Trigger- green/black & light blue - "-"
*The green/black is located in the lower drivers kick panel. It catches the drivers door only. The light blue is located in the lower passenger kick panel, and catches the passenger door(s). Tap both wires and diode isolate each.

My bad, some how i thought you were trying to hook up your parking lights to let you know that you car was unlocked or locked, Sorry!
i hope this can help, let me know if you need some more info.
