Installing Amp Under Drivers Seat
Monday, August 29, 2005 8:51 PM
hello all. i want to mount my 4 channel amp under my drivers seat. i just need to know if the netal bracket that is under there can be removed without any issues. it seems to me that it only keeps the rails from moving independently such as the passenger seat rails do.

is it ok to remove that piece. also, i would like any advise from anyone else that has mounted an amp under their seats. thanks.

Peace Out!!!

You're going to run the risk of alot of heat buildup. That's gonna kill your amp in a shorter time period. I wouldn't recommend mounting it there.

you really think so? it seems pretty open for the size of the amp. theres also and air circulation inlet right there for the a/c, which i have on all the time cuz of this heat.

Peace Out!!!

Eh...it's not a bad spot..you do ahve air under there....it's also a 4 channel..it's not like you have a 2000W mono chillin' under the seat. I'd say it would be fine. I know that's where I mounted my brain for my HU when I had my DVD....i'd at least unbolt the seat and see how it fits...plenty of clearance and brwathing room...

i did try out the amp under there the other day. fits well. i'd say a perfect fit length and width wise. the only issue was the metal bracket and the seat adjustment linkage was hitting it and not keeping the seat in place.

Peace Out!!!

i wouldnt put it there, not only because of heat but i throw crap on the floor all the time and @!#$ rolls around or spills... its not gonna be fun when some jackass has no idea and pours his 20 oz of coke on your amp

there are better places i think
