I'm just curious as to what an equalizer does, and how they work. I searched but came up with relatively no information.
How do they get wired in to the stereo system?
What exactly do they do?
What are their benefits?
Are their any downfall's of having an equalizer?
an eq is used to smooth out the frequency response of your system.
it's wired in-between your headunit and amplifier VIA rca outputs.

just the guy I wanted to respond to my post......you seem to know a lot about what you are talking about.
I have a 6 channel amp, therefore I have 3 Sets of RCA's......so from my head unit I have Front, Rear, and Subwoofer Pre-Outs.......if I had an Equalizer how would that be wired in? Would I run RCA's from the Front Output on the Head Unit to the Equalizer, and then the Rear's and the Subwoofer?
Run one set of RCA's to your EQ, cause that's all that one takes. Then run the front, rear, and subs out of the EQ to your amps.

The DQXS is awesome! The digital dash control is nice for switching modes easily too.
