LED Turnsignals
Friday, August 19, 2005 7:43 PM
I bought some LED bulbs for my corner lights (this is a different issue than posted a lil bit ago) and i read when i bought them that the turn signals would flash as if they were burnt out because of the low current draw that the LED's have. I read there was a way to fix it, but i cant find that site again. I searched under LED, LED Turnsignal, and others, did someone else have this problem? I know its a simple solution, but a lil help would be great.

i have blue led blinkers and mine are normal shouldnt there be some kind of resistor that makes it normal i dont think they can just draw diff current and last very long

Yeah, their sold as a direct replacement so all of this should have been though about, if not......wtf?

i found the replacement, 6 Ohm, 50 Watt resistors , ebay for 10 bucks, it goes across the power and ground wire, nvm, but for those who wanna c:::

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LED-LEDS-TURN-SIGNAL-BLINKER-FIX-LOAD-RESISTOR-KIT_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33713QQitemZ7993750941QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

although its a big resistor for like 10 bucks, i guess its worth it, unless someone knows somewhere else that i can get this?

what are you talking about, 194 LEd's dont fit in the corner bulbs.........what are you talkin about 5.0? im not getting what your saying, maybe were misunderstanding what were talkin about.

hmm, so i was thinking tonight, i need a 50 watt load resistor, can i jus wire a bunch of resistors together (essentially) and stick them in the same place? how would i add the resistors up?

lol 194? is not a corner blinker light??.. and i said there 5.00 buy a damn blinker light with 4 leds built in they do sell them.. made for 12v also

i thought that the corner blinkers in the front of the 2002 cavalier are 3357's but you cant get those led's but 3157's work, i dont think 194's fit

That's b/c 194's don't fit in 00-02. Brandon is smokin' the chronic and he's 17 j/k Brandon. On his 95-99 and on the 03+ Cav's there are 194 bulbs in the corners, b/c the actual turn signals are separate bulbs. On our lovely 00-02's, we have 3x57 as parking and turn, so you need the load resistor to fix the current-draw problem (which causes the 'fast blink'). You're much better off buying a pre-made one than trying to make your own. The pre-made's are a nice, clean little pkg, and I think they may have heat sinks on them so u don't fry the resistors over time.

What would you want to look for when looking for the pre-made LED's? I got some from APC a while back & once I put them in it kept blowing my fuse!! I was assuming after 4 blown fuses that it must have needed some type of resister?
Thanks!!!
