Personally, i like pioneer, and you can find them for pretty cheap on eBay. I've only used their expensive stuff though, so take this with a grain of salt.

Other good brands though would be alpine, eclipse, and maybe blaupunkt.

If you're going to spend some money, even 200, you might as well get something from a good brand.

I would suggest Alpine, but not even after 5 months the motorized face plate somehow broke and won't move at all. However, the sound quality is excellent and it has alot of nice features. So perhaps get one without a motorized face plate?

Oh, and never ever get a sony deck with mp3 capability, the playback with mp3's is horrid.

for a cheap deck i would say blaupunkt. i put one in my truck 6 years ago and a couple of months ago gave it to my friend, still works like new and sounds good.

If this were last year (2004) I would suggest a Alpine unit in any price range. BUT this year they have slacked a ton. The 9847 would be the lowest I would go with their HU's, and even that is a tad low on the qaulity side. (Not to mention breaking his price range). Your best bet is to find a low end Pioneer Premier, Kenwood Excelon, JVC Arsenal unit. A lower end Alpine unit will still more then satisfy your needs. Even Clarion will suffice.
