I think I fried some wires

I was installing a head unit in my girlfriends 95 cavalier and I didn't kno the key was turned on. So as soon as I plugged the wire adaptor into the cd player, I heard a zapping noise for like 3 seconds and now her speedometer lights and hvac lights don't work. All the fuses are fine and the blinkers and all the lights on either side of the speedometer works. Does anyone kno what happened?

Check interior lights relay; make sure the fuses are all the way in.

unplug the battery before doing any electrical work in a car. a minute of doing this could save you hundreds of dollars in blown equipment.

Yeah I kno, thats how I did it on my car, but I was in a hurry and screwed up. Anyways the good news is I fixed it. I missed a fuse and today I found the blown one. But yeah def. unplug the battery or next time it might not be so easy to fix.
