Just won that, what kind of sound can I expect?

Ebay link

Q-Logic ported box, small but I'm looking for SQ only, and Q boxes are pretty good from what I've heard

Cerwin Vega 8" 250w RMS sub; again, cerwin vega are pretty nice subs, but it doesn't state the model. Anybody knows what it could be?

Considering the price, I don't really mind having bought that without asking too many questions first.

What do you all think?

Thanks,

G

pre-fabbed boxes suck...especialy those q-logic ported ones.

i'd take the sub, throw the box away..and build new ported box that'll make that 8 sound like pair of 10's

Those Q logic boxes are raelly bad? I too never been a fan of prefab box, I will build a new ported one pretty much like I had with my old setup ( slot ported, it was hitting @!#$ hard! ). However, I'm way more shooting for SQ than SPL this time. Only want something that hits tight, nice and firm ( I like women that way too ). I'm listening to pretty much every kind of music, from Jack Johnson to jazz to Lil' Jon to coldplay, anything. I jsut want to be able to crank up the volume and not loose the bass halfway there because of distortion.

Thanks,

G

if you want nice SQ...just make a sealed box

^^ yeah make one. It's really easy and a whole lot cheaper. Plus you know it is the right size that is recommended for those specific speakers. Making your own you will know it will sound good Just my little input. Goodluck with it.

it will sound decent but will be rather peaky due to a high tuning frequency.... I suggest a .7 cube box with 15-20 inches of port area tuned to roughly 34 hz... for optiimum SQ

Thanks a lot -loki-. You seem to know a lot about building boxes. Any specific advices for shape, dimensions, etc?

Wouldn't a sealed box sound better SQ-wise?

Cheers,

Guillaume
