wtf mate?

okay, so i'm driving home from sandusky last night , not 2 days after taken her in to get the neons to work again (yes, i like my neons, and if something goes wrong with them, the guys at horizon are glad to see me and fix it for free as long as the actual tubes aren't broken...), and so i wanna make the car glow. i flip the switch, and my hubby plugged in the inside neons, and boom! the neons and my gauge cluster as well as the lights on my stereo all go out. ofcourse, it was just a blown fuse, wich i fixed, but i was wondering what i could possibly wire the underglow into that wouldn't kill anything inportant...i mean, i figure i could wire it into the cig lighter b/c i don't need it, but if there's anything else anyone can think of (besides gettin rid of the glow...that's not an option ) i'd appreciate the help.

Im seeing a few different things here.

-Did you flip the switch and the underbodies come on, then your 'hubby' plugged in interior neons then they went poof?

Im also getting that the inside neons were to blame, but then why would you need to rewire the underbodies.

I see two potential problems here:

- When the interior neons were plugged in it created a load on the wires that they couldnt handle so POOF! goes the fuse. Find some way to rewire the interior neons.

-Your tapping your neons into another power source instead of coming off the battery which would explain why the cluster when out.

If the latter is the problem then find your power in the fusebox under the hood, instead of finding another wire that already has power. Thats what I did and I have no problems.

GOOD LUCK!

just run your own inline fuse to the battery...and run that to power your neons...that will fix everything

agreed... by wiring the neons to the battery with their own seperate fuse, you don't have to worry about blowing anything else in your car nor should you have to worry about blowing the fuse to the lights themselves...

Ya, if you install anything in your car, fuse it by itself, not with something else. The inside neons should be fine wired to the cig lighter though. You have to really work at it to blow that thing. You could just put a bigger fuse in, but don't blame me if something melts.

hehe, funny thing is, i had the guy from horizon look at it last night and he fried a transformer...so they're gonna put a new one in for free for me...yay...

i dunno,. my fuses just all confused me cos after actually looking at what they are all for, hte cluster shouldn't have gone out due to what fuse the neons were wired into...electronics ::twitch:: my car's a bitch anyways gotta love her tho...

Taping into an existing power source for that much current is half a$$ing the job. I go to the battery for everything. I gto a 4ga wire to use just for accessories like alarm, neons, gauges, etc.
