Chime Module

Okay so I want to upgrade my whole system to aftermarket. Speakers and everything, indluding adding a sub. I currently have a 2002 sunfire with the monsoon system in it. I have read the sticky and know all about the door chimes going away but I kinda want to keep them, I tend to forget to turn the lights off. But I do not want to just relocate the factory unit. I have tried to find a door chime module that will work but ended up finding a bunch of different ones and I do not know which one I need to get. There is no onstar and I dont think the monsoon counts as a bose system or premium system but I was not sure. If anyone can give me a part number for the exact part I need that would be great. Preferibly I would like to use the front speaker for the chimes and not have some weird buzzing like I saw on some module. Also, if I am replacing all the speakers do I need to worry about the factory amp that is running to them? Thank you all in advance.

I'm a Newb but I aint no N00b.

Oh and it would also be great if I could keep the aftermarket radio to stay on like the factory one does. Thanks again.

I work at best buy installing stereos so I know what we have, There are two options. Either 1 relocate the factory radio in the trunk with a relocation harness (68.99)(But you already said you didnt want to do that) or #2 at my store we just got a chime modual. Its like 128.99. Ive never installed one yet, but Im about to buy myself one so Ill have to let u know. But I was just leting u know that BB carries this.

$130 is insane, try here:

Metra VT-GMRC-01for $80

It's only $40 if you buy it with a headunit. Or you could go to Circuit City, it's $90 there.

i don't think the GMRC-01 will work with the Sunfire's monsoon system, it needs like a version 1.4 or somthing, I sold a stereo to a girl and the RC-01 would not work with the factory amp. Call Metra.

Okay I think that would work, but do you know if that will also let me keep the factory setting where the radio stays on ever after i turn the car off?

it does im my 2002 z24.. used the RC01 and my factory amp and the delayed radio shut off work just like stock. also take the black box apart when you get the rc01 and cut the lil piece inside that says something about quieting the chimes(youll see it) chimes are loud as hell, still on the loud side with it cut too... good luck

haha yeah, it's still really loud with that piece cut ...

I took it apart, cut the piece, put it back together, and put electric tape over the speaker LOL... it sounds perfect now
