I have a Alpine cd player and 1/2 din size alpine eq ere-g180 11band. I currently have it mounted underneath the cd player. Had to modify the mounting bracket to get both in place, but there is hardly any room behind them and the wires are all mashed together. Not to mention the amount of heat that is trapped there. My question is where did u guys mount ur equalizers. I like to keep my setup but i don't want to overheat and cook my stuff. Has anybody taken out the ashtray and mounted an eq. I would like to do that and enclose in and make it part of the dash. Any ideas or pics would help.
Anywhere you want. Since you have little room in the current DIN space why dont you remove the useless plastic in the back to get more space.

i mounted min in the center council but it a little more work
Like lawnmowerracer said cut out the extra plastic. It gives you plenty of room to tie up your wires nicely.
under HU ,arm rest, trunk , glovebox ,under steerin wheel, under seat, remove ashtray
if have one
I'm willing to bet that the Alpine head unit has a built in Equalizer. What's the model number?

The Alpine does have a built in Eq, but the eq makes a hell of alot of difference. Without it, the music sound flat and anemic. I have the alpine cd player, eq, kenwood 4x6 in the front, Fosgate 6x9 in the rear, Punch 2-10" and Soundstream 5ch amp 45x4 and 180x1 at 2ohms. The plastic section u guys are talking about is right behind the radio and i just cut it out. I know there is one at the bottom under the radio.
There is also behind is as well you can remove.
