anyone know of any, i got a low tone 132 decible horn at autozone, but it seems to be a high tone, not a low tone like i wanted.......anyone have any input as to a good aftermarket horn.......btw, i don't have my stock horn so thats not an option

i do yell and use the finger.....but neither of them will get me past an inspection

arghh.......ok, so i went to the junkyard and got me a horn out of a 99 cavy (they had no caddys there ) so i just got one from a J. now the problem is that it sounds exactly the same as the horn i took off, its quiet and wussy sounding. the horn is wired like this

battery----------fuse---------button-----------horn thats for the power

horn----------ground and thats my ground

is anything missing, mabey its not getting enough power, i used 16 gauge wire all through it...........im just getting upset because inspection is soon and i need a horn that will pass, i cant even hear the horn right now at highway speeds

Hey, I got a stock one still in my car and I havent messed with it or anything, the reason I'm saying this is cuz I can barely hear mine at highway speeds and mines stock, so I dont think u'r missing much, and yes the cavy horns sound like crap, as long as it can be heard at an ok volume I would think u'd pass.

ok, im an idiot. the reason it was quiet is that i put tape over the mouth of hte horn to keep water out........that caused an extreme muffling effect and made the horn quiet.

I say again. i am an idiot. i know this already, i don't need to be told this

yeah, but this threat is for horns that DONT sound like a$$

G-Body Cutlass also has the dual tone horns (82-88). Monte's and ElCamino's from the same timeframe may also have dual tone. For those cars, the horns are seperated out, one on the driver's side, on on passenger, IIRC. I'll see if I can get some pics off of my Cutty. Those cars should be plagueing junk yards.

Well I know for sure that there is a horn on the driver side of a Cutty. It is behind the charcoal canister if it's a V6 (V6 has the battery on the passenger side of the car). Didn't get a chance to check the passenger side. Since that car has been sitting in the same spot for a while, it is now guarded by hornets. Just opening the door to pop the hood pissed them off. I'll see if they'll let me pull the horn to see if it works tomorrow

I was thinking of looking for a horn from a 2500 series chevy or gmc truck . What do you think of that. Also how hard would it be to do this.

its probably the same connector as our car uses, i bet its just like it, one 10mm bolt holds it in, then unplug.

if your just replaciing your horn with a new horn, FIAAM i think is the maker, just direct swaps,

I just want a better sound. someone said to put a dixie horn on, or a trucker horn.

i had a dixie air horn..... people loved it

where can i mount the dixie horn on my car. rouenacanoe you said you had it don just wonering i ordered it and was wondering where to mount it. thanks..
