system rating/wiring questions

Would an 800w Amp driving two 800w subs be considered a 800w system? or a 1600w system?

What gage power and ground wire would you suggest? I used 4 before and it worked fine, but would 8 work?

Its all the ampage that you have - thus you have an 800 watt system

8 will work but your better off with 4

8 awg is easier to run into the trunk then 4 awg, but id go with 4 awg.

In my case, im running a 4 awg to 2 8 awg wires in the trunk.

When I had these installed before, I installed them having no idea what I was doing and used a wiring kit from wal mart.

It came with a 4 AWG power cable and 8 AWG ground. Well being that "a chain is only as strong as its weakest link" it would seem that the 8 AWG would work fine.

Also, is it true that having a larger ground wire then power wire helps?
