I been heavily thinking about getting the alphasonik subs and because they have a cool basket reverse mounting them, i have never done this and dont quite understand how exactly it works, I do stereo competitions what kinda effect will this have on my sound and does a bigger or smaller box matter when its reverse mounted?

its done basically for looks. im sure if u hooked up some test equipment to it you would see a slight diffrence, but not normally something u can actually hear, unless its some wind noise passing over the basket itself.
only real diffrence is if you have one in and one out, the one that is facing in(magnet out) will have a extra amount of air in that side of the box, generally it wont be enough to cause any major diffrence and if it became an issue, gluing the apropriate sized 2x4 inside the bos can equal out the airspace for you.

well the box im running has individual chambers and I dont want to do anything that will compromise spl, I only have 2.5 cu ft to work with so i need to make the most of it

well if you do need more space in the box then this would give you more space... if the space is perfect for normal mounting of subs i dont see why the 2x4 idea wouldnt work when its cut the same size as the magnet

yeah you'd just need to find out how much space your sub takes up in the box. and then figure out the area that the cone of the sub takes up. and make the appropriate size filler piece to make it exact. but even if u didnt do that i doubt you would measure that much diffrence, i'd suggest going to your next show, run the sub in. go thru the lanes, then flip it and get metered again and see if there is any change.
