Ive got a 2001 Cavalier Z24 with the early production premium sound system. Right now the speakers are stock and factory amp is on. In the past month I have put in a Kenwood KDC-MPV-5025 deck 50Wx4, MTX 6000 12'' sub in sealed box, and a MTX 251D amp for the sub. Now I'm trying to tweak the stereo so it can sound better. I know that every system is different but how do you guys have your system set up so I can just have a broad idea on how I can adjust this?
what are you trying to adjust it for... bass loudness or total sq... personally... I'd turn the bass down, shift the fader towards the front... turn up the threble and the sub (treble more than the sub) and then take it from there and play with it a bit so that the vocals don't sound like everyone has a sore throat... but that is just my suggestion...
I'm looking to get it to sound good and clear but i'm still looking for that slight bass.
ok... with that in mind, I'd do what I have above... tweak the gain on the amp down a bit from middle... if I am not mistake, with factory speakers, the bass shouldn't have a problem overpowering the speakers, so that is why I would tweak it down a bit... set ur bass almost al teh way down, treble all the way up, and sub about 3-4 units away from all teh way up... set ur HP and LP filters into action and then sit back and listen to it... adjust slightly as necessary to clarify the vocals and you should be good to go...
and for reference, I am running two amps on a close to pure rockford system... with 2 HE2-12" subs and I have pioneer 4x6's in teh door tied to teh deck in addition to the components up front tied to the amp to shift teh staging forward... which is why I suggest adjusting the fader forward a bit... also if your deck has a DSS (digital sound staging) feature, then use that as well... to bring the music up and out of the rear deck adn focus it around your normal listening zone...
