I got a Optima Yellow Top battery a while ago, and it has both side mount and top post connecters.
This was nice cuz I could use the side mount for the stock wires, and the top posts for my aftermarket stuff.
ANYWAYS...
The instructions that came with the battery say that the side mount terminals can be used for "Charging, Starting, and Load" whereas the top posts can ONLY be used for "Charging and Load"
Why can't the top post be used for the starter?

doesn't matter. they just say that because of the style of connections used are different.
that's why the call the blue top a "marine" battery..only difference is the posts and what not.

I have one and I use the sides for stock and I used the top posts for my amps and extra grounds.
I should add that nothing has blown up or been destroyed as of this time.
Yeah I thought it was kinda weird, and wouldnt expect any issues. I was just curious if there was actually a reason for it but I cant find one.
It works out though cuz the starter is on the stock side-mount thing anyways so whatever.
Thanks.
