ok so i got my new box and put it in and the sub got really loud cuz i got a ported box now.

so my buddy and i messed with the gain to turn it up and the sub gets warm but he has the same one and his gets just as warm.

and we smelled a burning smell and i was wondering could it just be the new box? cuz before we never noticed it or had a problem with it.

the voice coils are gettin to hot, you have to much power going to the subs or when he turned the gain up to high and now its clippin

Yep, gain down. Where is your sub crossed over at? You shouldn't need to do anything with the freqency adjustment. Also make sure any bass boost is turned off.

You shouldn't be cranking the gain.
