I have 1 15" re xxx in my cavalier. Its a slotted port box to spec tuned at 30hz. When i went to compete in dbdrag people were telling me the box and port were to small. my internal volume for the box is 4cuft. I want to make a box just for spl for this sub so i can compete in dbdrag. Im using a dual 2ohm sub run by an eclipes da7232 amp http://www.eclipse-web.com/amp/da7232.html . I hit 138db playing 38hz. I know this sub can be louder any help would be appreciated. The sub is firing to the front of car.

You should be using a dual 4ohm sub for a 2ohm load to get the maximum from your amp.

each channel is wired to each coil. the amp isnt bridgeable. i dont know much i just pay people to do all the installation

if your building the box JUST for burps in comp. then you need to tune it so it peaks at the resonant frequency of your car.

how much port area do you have? i'd hope at least 40 or 50 sq. in"

how do i figure out the port square inches. i can meausre the box quick and get back to you in a few mins.

length X width of the port opening.

i did a db drag event this past weeknd and asked what my highest freq and we ran a sweep from 30 hz to 70 and 38hz was the highest. I hit a 138. 9 i know this sub can do better than that.... my 12" l7 hit louder than this but the re xxx sounds louder and more clearer than the kicker

it's probably the enclosure if you think your not getting as loud as it should be.

tune it higher and i'm sure you'll see a gain

how would i go bout doing that? the box was made to re specs internal is 4cuft external its little over 5 cu ft

shorter port....should raise the tuning.

hell i'd just build a new box made for contests...keep this one for daily

thats what im planning on doing... my sound quality in unbelievable. this is the best sub ever purchased. if im going to make a new box what internal volume and port would u recommend

hey im the one from termpro that told you to check this site out.

if your going for spl olny get a box with 5-6 cubes after displacment and 70-80" of port. face the sub into the car and seal off the trunk that way you have less space and that will give you a higher spl.

i had a singe se 12 hooked up to a 280 watt amp and i did 139 at 48HZ so you have alot of room to work with.

you say 5 - 6cuft after displacement. which means what? my box in the car rights now is external of 5.05cuft. with 57 3/4 of port. the box is firing the way you say to fire it.

i mean internal not external over on term pro you said the box is tuned to 30 hz also that can have alot to do with it.

do you have your trunk sealed off of is the box just facin into the car?

its not sealed off but the spl box im gonna make will be sealed off...

yea...i'd tune it higher for compeittion.

someone told me a lond time ago our cars like 49-50hz so if you tune the box around 43-44hz then you can still play it for everyday use. if you tune any higher it will sound like $hit for everyday use.

with a 15"xxx and 2000 watts you should be at least in the mid 40's at the dash. what type of battery and what does your volts drop down to when you got the 138?

here is everything thing in the car.

up front battery - yellow top otima battery
trunk battery - red top

0 gauge to amps
210 highout alt
jvc headunit
1 farad cadence cap


volts stayed at like 12 but dropped to like 11 volts

you should have that red top under the hood if your using your batteries seperate. stick the deep cycle in the trunk.
