Kenwood CD/MP3 Player Problems
Monday, July 11, 2005 9:02 AM
I did a search and found some info about the Alpines head units getting over powered and shutting down, but I was wondering if anyone has had this problem with a Kenwood.

My Kenwood (although I can't remember the exact model number) is the CD/MP3/Serius Ready one, that faceplate switches like 32 colors. Anywho, the problem started almost a year ago. The symptoms were if I had my system (2 JL 12" and 500w Rockford amp) going at a pretty good rate (about 25) and come to a stop letting the RPM's drop under 1 grand the system shuts down (head unit and everything blacks out) but not the car or other electrical components. Now as times progressed I've added 3-way Pioneer 6 x 9's and 2 way door speakers, and now it's doing it even when I'm driving down the high way. It's pretty much anything over 25 on the volume control. Songs with a lot of bass are doing I'm figuring. I don't listen to that much hip hop songs anymore, but even some of the classic rock stuff I got with heavy bass guitars are shutting her down. Any answers or solutions? I'm guessing it's something to do with the charging system as in the alternator isn't adding enough juice to the battery to keep up. My battery is brand new by the way. Thanks in advance.

I have that sometimes only if my car is idling, and that is after power cuts to both my amps... however my battery is cut and leaking and a new one is on teh way, and I have rebuilt my alternator to put out 140amps when I am running... it doesn't help at idle, but it does when I am actually driving... just a though, I got mine done for me for about $130 with a 1 yr warranty at an electricians...
