audio conversion for 1990 Pontiac Sunbird

i have a 1990 sunbird Le and am thinking about putting a cd player in it. do i need to add anything special for the conversion. like a wiring harness or connectors. Thanks for the help.

yes you have to buy a wiring harness that will connect your after market cd player the factory wiring. you can purchase this prety much anywhere that sells aftermarket stereos, even walmart has them. buy some crip connectors is the easiest way to connect the cd player to the harness then it just plugs into the original wiring that connected to the factory stereo.

Also, don't forget an antenna adapter. You will need one (so you're stock GM antenna will plug into your new radio).

wiring harness...... new faceplate to even out the space..... and the antenna adapter and your pretty much set.... you can either crimp or sauder the wires together

I didnt need an attena adapter and mine works.. soldering is a pain, crimping is easier and works fine, just dont use the twist and tape method. Disconnect you battery until everything is wired up too....all you'd prabably do is blow a fuse but i blew an output chip once installing a deck with the battery connected, better safe than sorry.
