Does anyone here know anything about the steering wheel controls tha can be found in the Sunfires? I know that they'll only work with the factory radio, but I am thinking about a little project, and was hoping to find out how they connect to the radio. Are they just buttons or to they connect to an IC and then to a data bus? Are they a variable resistor type? I also know about the kits to interfcace them with the aftermarket headunits, and that's not what I'm after. A wiring diagram or schematic would be really helpful. Also, is it possible to swap my steering wheel for one with controls, and keep my airbags?
I've tried searching, but can't seem to come up with anything.

ok i did extensive research on this: the controls are a databus wire and a ground. i dont have access to the pic but search for this exact title, it'll come up

Will do. Is it just a that you can unbolt from the wheel, or do you need the whole thing?

you can unbolt it but it leaves an empty area in the steering wheel......most dont want that void there......prob just easier to swap steering wheels

do you know if that bit has it's own part number? I can ask some of the peeps on uor boards that work for GM if there are any laying around.....

um i woudnt have a clue, if its not in that link i gave you then your on your own.......have them lookup 95-99 Sunfire GTs that the only cars they came on

every GT yes no other base model or anything had them and cavies never had them
