This may sound like a noob question, but it's not.
I used to have a pioneer DEH-P6000 which I installed on a "party barge" (floating sound system). That model was ideal because it could use the interal amps front channel to power 2 speakers, and allowed bridging the rears to power a small subwoofer. Obviously, it wasn't a lot of power to the sub, but was enough for my needs on the barge and drew MUCH less amperage from the battery than a full amplifier would (I could run it continuous for 4 hours or more). I mounted/housed the sub, CD deck, speakers, and car battery inside the sub box as a sealed unit to prevent water damage to critical parts.
The CD deck has gone through too much abuse on the barge and eventually died after many years of service. I need to replace it. However, the DEH-P6000 has way more features than I need, and a lower model (cheaper) would work fine. The problem is I don't remember if all of that years lineup had the capability to run the small sub off the internal power like this one did. So, the question is:
Does anyone know which models of Pioneer decks have this capability?
Thanks for the help. By the way, I used the party barge for tubing down rivers. We would start out as a group of 5 or so, and end up with 25 or more by the time we got to the end. People loved this thing!
I wanna use Flash for my sig but it doesn't work.

If I were putting this in a car, then obviously I would use a seperate amp (I run all amp power in my own car). But I am not - this is going onto a floating raft, and running on battery power only. As I said, the reason to use this particular feature of these decks (the ability to bridge the rears and power a small sub) is mainly because of the lower amperage draw from the battery compared to a "full" amp.
Thanks for the response though.
Anyone else remember this feature on these pioneer decks? Like I said, I know the DEH-P6000 had the capability, but I'm not sure which others.
My Pioneer DEH-P7700MP says it would do that same feature, at least according to the install manual, its this years model deck, has lots of features, i think my older Premier 550MP would do the same, so, possibly check into either of those, hopefully that gives you some ideas.
I think the upper half of the pioneer lineup will do this.. my Premier DEH-P8MP will do it if I wanted to
Its not going to use less power than a separate amp just because its the head unit's internal amp. In fact, if you get yourself a small class D amp of comparable power (~50w) you will draw less power. You could even go with a larger amp and just leave the gain low so you do not draw too much power.
"all your bass are belong to us"
I guess my logic on that would be because the deck already is using it's internal amp (for the front speakers), it would be more efficient to add the use of the rears than to use a completely seperate amp. However I never considerred a small class D amp - I know they're pretty efficient...
Any suggestions on a small class D amp? The more choices I have, the better. I'ld be looking for basically about as cheap as I can get it, so sound quality isn't the most important factor. This is for added bass in background music on a homemade floating raft, not in a competition vehicle... Used and readily available on ebay or something like that would be even better...
Thanks for the idea!
